The fluctuations of women’s hormones throughout their life from puberty to pregnancy to menopause, and everywhere in between, has always been a fascinating topic to me.
As we grow and develop, life events can influence how our hormones decide to act, which can change how we feel both physically and emotionally. The body is extremely clever and is built to react to even the smallest of changes, as a way of telling us that there may be an imbalance within that needs stabilising. Then there are natural processes like menopause, which are one of life’s events that are unavoidable for women, and whether we like it or not, these changing hormone levels are intended to happen as part of our journey.
Everybody’s menopause experience is completely different, some lucky ones breeze through it, whereas for some it can be debilitating, isolating, cause identity loss, and even put strain on relationships. These changes shouldn’t be feared and definitely shouldn’t have to be ‘just dealt with’; it should be a celebration of your life and achievements so far, and a nod towards the next stage of life. Whichever point you are at, whether it be pre-perimenopause, peri-menopause, menopause or post, I can support and assist in many ways to make your experiences positive and help you feel yourself again.
